"Document The Process"

DTP (Document the Process) is a documentary-style competition within the NJFAME Film League that challenges students to capture real learning, real problem-solving, and real growth on camera.

Instead of telling a fictional story, students document a journey—from identifying a problem or goal, to exploring solutions, taking action, and reflecting on outcomes. The final film becomes a powerful record of how change happens, told through student voices and authentic moments.

DTP celebrates process over perfection, emphasizing reflection, iteration, teamwork, and critical thinking—core skills in both education and real-world careers.

A team long before the crowd arrives—when the gym is quiet, the field is empty, and the work is unseen. Through early mornings, hard practices, and moments of doubt, this documentary captures how trust, discipline, and resilience are forged over time. It’s not about the final score; it’s about the process that transforms individuals into a unit—and preparation into purpose.

"FEAR ALCHEMY"
FILM THEMES

This year’s NJFAME theme, “Facing Fear: Stories of Courage and Growth,” challenges students to create original short films—using only a cell phone—that explore how fear shapes identity, decisions, and transformation. Through storytelling, students will examine moments of challenge, resilience, and triumph.

Say Its Name

A student navigates a quiet school day weighed down by an unnamed fear. When they finally speak the truth out loud, the weight shifts. Fear remains, but clarity replaces confusion, and a small, courageous step forward signals the start of transformation.

Behind the Mask

A confident student hides fear behind a polished persona. As the mask grows heavy, they choose a quiet moment of honesty. Being seen brings relief, not applause. Fear remains, but authenticity loosens its grip and restores balance.
